How to judge a photo retouching portfolio
Any studio can show you its ten best images. What separates a portfolio worth trusting from a well-curated one is what happens when you look closely, and whether the same standard survives across a hundred files rather than ten.
Four things to look at before you order
- Open the image full size. Cut-out quality is invisible at thumbnail size and obvious at 100%. Look along hair, fur, mesh and any curved edge for a pale fringe or a stair-stepped outline.
- Look at the shadow, not the product. A shadow that does not match the light direction in the photograph is the fastest way to tell that a cut-out was pasted onto white rather than edited into it.
- Check skin for texture. Portrait work with no pores has been smoothed rather than retouched. Good skin work removes what is temporary and leaves what makes the face a face.
- Ask to see a set, not a hero. One perfect image proves nothing about a catalogue. Consistency across eight angles of the same product is the harder problem and the one that matters commercially.
Why we show before and after
A gallery of finished images only ever proves the end state. It cannot tell you whether the studio fixed a difficult original or simply photographed something easy well. That is why every discipline on this page is also shown as a comparison slider — the original is there beside the result, and you can see exactly what was changed.

Jewellery retouching
The hardest product category. Metal, stones and reflections each behave differently, and every shortcut is visible at listing zoom. Dust removal, lustre restoration and rebuilt reflection shadows.
Product & eCommerce
The volume discipline: cut-out, marketplace-compliant white, true colour, a contact shadow and platform sizing. Judged on consistency across a whole catalogue rather than on any one image.
Ghost mannequin
The garment keeps a three-dimensional worn shape with nothing propping it up. The neck, sleeve and hem joints are where this work is won or lost.
Clipping path
Hand-drawn vector outlines at four complexity tiers, from a plain box to a bicycle frame. The foundation under most other product work.
Image masking
For edges a path cannot cut — hair, fur, lace, mesh, smoke and glass. Transparency is kept per pixel and the fringe decontaminated so nothing haloes on a new background.
Real estate
Several bracketed exposures blended into one honest image, windows recovered, verticals straightened, skies replaced. One delivered file is built from many source frames.
Portrait & headshot
Deliberately restrained. Temporary marks come out, skin texture stays in, and nothing about the face is reshaped, because a headshot has to stay recognisable.
Newborn
Gentle work in the first weeks of life: blotchiness and peeling evened out, downy hair and texture left alone, and two-frame safety shots merged.
Restoration
The one category with no reshoot. Cracks, tears, water damage and fading repaired by hand, with missing detail reconstructed rather than blurred over.
Furniture
Colour accuracy above all, because furniture is the most expensive thing to have returned. Plus contact shadows that put a piece on the floor rather than floating it.

Is this real client work?
Yes. Every image on this page is a delivered file from a live client order, shown with permission. Work from clients who have not given permission is never published, which is also why some of our largest accounts do not appear here.
Can I see more work in my category?
Yes. Each service page carries its own sample set for that discipline, and if you tell us what you sell we will send examples closer to your products than a general portfolio can be. Ask through the contact page or the trial form above.
Will my images be added to this portfolio?
Not without your written permission. Client work is confidential by default, and white-label clients — photographers and agencies delivering under their own name — are never published at all.
How do I know my results will look like this?

What file formats do you work with?

Yes, and it is the most common request from brands with existing imagery. Send examples of what you already have and your look is recorded as a written style guide, then applied to everything that follows.
Do you handle large volumes?
Yes. Capacity runs to 8,000 images a day across more than eighty retouchers, so a seasonal catalogue refresh is routine. For large projects we agree a delivery timeline upfront and meet it.
What does this work cost?
Rates start at $0.30 an image for a clipping path and run to $3.00 for real estate work, priced by complexity rather than by category. There is no minimum order, and bulk orders qualify for up to 50% off.
