What Does Outsourcing Photo Editing Mean?

Handing your post-production to a dedicated team so your own people shoot, sell and design instead of sitting in Photoshop — with the output arriving unbranded and to your specification.

Fixed cost becomes variable

An in-house retoucher costs the same in a quiet month as a busy one. Outsourcing turns that into a per-image cost that tracks the work you actually have.

White label by default

Files come back unbranded and unmarked. Your client never sees us, and we never use your images in our own portfolio without written permission.

Capacity you cannot hire for

A seasonal spike that would need six temporary staff is absorbed without a hiring round, and released again when it passes.

Consistency through a style guide

Your standard is written down once and applied to every batch, including ones delivered months apart by different retouchers.

How it works

How Outsourcing to Us Works

Four steps from raw frames to listing-ready files, with no account setup in between.

Step 01

Tell us the standard

Send reference images or brand guidelines. We record them as a written style guide for your account.

Step 02

Send the work

Upload portal, Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, or a direct connection to your FTP.

Step 03

Edited and checked

Named retouchers work to your guide, then a second editor checks every batch before it leaves.

Step 04

Delivered unbranded

Files return within 24 hours, named and foldered to your convention. Revisions are unlimited.

What we edit

Photo Editing Services You Can Outsource

The full catalogue, available as one pipeline or picked individually, each row shown on work that demonstrates it. Colour change and variants, real estate and property and restoration each have a page of their own with the technique in full. Drag any slider to see the real file, before and after.

Apparel & Ghost Mannequin

Garments finished for fashion listings: mannequin removed, interior collar composited in, creases cleaned and the fabric weave kept intact.

  • Mannequin removed, shape kept
  • Neck and sleeve joints built
  • Creases and lint cleaned
  • Weave and texture retained

Jewellery and Stone Retouching

Rings and set pieces photographed close enough that dust, fingerprints and the studio itself are part of the picture. The stones are cleaned and sharpened without losing their facets, the metal is evened without going flat, and the piece is separated onto white with the setting still reading as a setting.

  • Dust and fingerprints cleared at macro
  • Stones sharpened, facets kept
  • Metal evened, not flattened
  • Separated onto compliant white

Portrait & Headshot Retouching

Skin, eyes, hair and wardrobe finished naturally for corporate rosters, personal branding and studio client work, with nothing reshaped.

  • Skin texture kept, not plastic
  • Glasses glare and flyaways fixed
  • Whole teams matched
  • Delivered under your name

Image Masking & Fine Edges

Hair, fur, lace, mesh and glass extracted with transparency preserved — the cases where a clipping path visibly fails.

  • Strand-level hair extraction
  • No halo on any background
  • Transparency genuinely kept
  • Layered PSD supplied

Furniture and Homeware

Large items are bought on whether they look like they belong in a room, so a cut-out with no shadow floats and reads as a render. The contact shadow goes back under the piece, the perspective is corrected until verticals are vertical, and upholstery weave stays legible at the size a category page actually shows it.

  • Grounded contact shadow rebuilt
  • Perspective and verticals corrected
  • Weave and grain kept legible
  • Consistent across a whole range

Colour Change & Variants

A full colourway range built from one photograph. The recolour follows the fabric rather than filling a shape, so the drape, the shadow under the ruffle and the way the fabric takes light all survive into every variant — and because they are all the same frame, the range is provably consistent in a way six separate shoots never are.

  • Whole range from one frame
  • Matched to Pantone, hex or a physical swatch
  • Texture and drape preserved
  • Named to your SKU convention

Real Estate & Property

Listing photography brought to portal standard: the cast from mixed domestic lighting neutralised, exposure evened so the room reads as it does standing in it, and the view put back into the windows. Returned overnight, because listing images that arrive two days after the shoot have arrived too late.

  • Mixed domestic lighting neutralised
  • Window views recovered
  • Whole set matched to one standard
  • Overnight turnaround at listing volume

Photo Restoration

Damaged and historic photographs repaired by hand from your scan. Cracks, tears, water damage and fading are rebuilt rather than blurred over, and the grain is matched across the repair so the mend does not show as a smooth patch in a grainy print. Where detail was never captured we say so rather than inventing a face.

  • Cracks, tears and water damage rebuilt
  • Grain matched across the repair
  • Fading and discolouration reversed
  • Print-resolution masters returned

Watches and Two-Tone Metal

A two-tone bracelet is two materials that respond differently to the same adjustment: brighten the steel and the rose gold goes pink, correct the gold and the steel goes grey. Each is worked separately, the crystals around the bezel are cleaned individually, and the dial keeps its reflection rather than being painted out.

  • Each metal corrected separately
  • Bezel stones cleaned individually
  • Dial reflection kept, not removed
  • Links squared and evened

How we fit in

Ways Clients Work With Us

Outsourcing does not have to mean handing over everything at once. Six arrangements that change how the relationship works — an NDA, FTP hand-off, rush turnaround and a named contact come with all of them.

Start with three files, not a contract

Nobody should move their post-production on the strength of a sales page. The trial is three images, free, edited to your brief, and the useful part is not the price — it is finding out whether we read your standard correctly from a written brief, which is the thing that actually goes wrong when editing is outsourced.

Overflow only: keep your team, send the spike

The most common arrangement, and usually the right first one. Your in-house editors keep the work they are good at and the volume they can absorb, and we take the peak — the catalogue drop, the campaign, the week three people are away. Nothing about your pipeline changes, which means nothing about it can break.

Full pipeline on a standing brief

Every image, every week, against a written standard rather than a per-order brief. This is the arrangement that actually removes post-production from your week, and it is also the one that needs the most setup: the first month is spent getting the style guide exact, because after that nobody is looking at individual files before they go live.

Seasonal capacity you can hand back

Retail and property both have peaks that do not justify a permanent hire. Capacity is scaled up for the season and released afterwards, with the style guide kept on file so next year’s peak starts where the last one finished rather than from a fresh brief.

White label: our work, your name

Studios and agencies bill this work on as their own. Files come back unbranded, in your naming and folder convention, with nothing identifying us in the metadata or the delivery. We do not contact your client, and we are not credited anywhere in what you hand over.

Style-guide led, whoever is editing

Your background, shadow depth, crop, colour targets and file naming are written up once and applied by whoever picks up the batch. This is the difference between outsourcing and delegating: the standard lives in a document rather than in one editor’s memory, which is what makes batch forty match batch one.

Who we work with

Who Outsources Photo Editing to Us

Anyone for whom editing has become the constraint rather than the shooting. What differs is what the outsourcing has to solve.

eCommerce retailers: the catalogue is never finished

Retail editing is not a project, it is a rate. New SKUs arrive every week, each has to match a standard set months ago, and the backlog is invisible until a launch date depends on it. What outsourcing buys here is a fixed turnaround you can plan a release around rather than an internal queue you can only estimate.

Photographers and studios: the day after the shoot

Post-production does not get faster with experience and cannot be done during a shoot, so it is the part of the business that caps how much you can book. Handing it over converts an unpaid editing day into another shooting day, which is the only lever most studios have that does not involve hiring.

Creative agencies: billed on under your name

Agencies resell this work, so the requirement is not just quality but invisibility: unbranded files, your folder structure, no contact with your client, and a turnaround you can quote confidently before you have seen the images. The margin is in the difference between what you bill and what it costs you to not staff for it.

Brands with a season: in-season or not at all

Fashion, homeware and anything else with a drop calendar has a hard edge on its deadlines — imagery that lands after the range goes live has missed the point of the range. Capacity has to be there in the six weeks that matter and is wasted the rest of the year, which is exactly what outsourcing is for.

Manufacturers and wholesalers: specification, not styling

Line sheets, spec imagery and print catalogues are judged on accuracy rather than polish, and usually by buyers comparing several suppliers side by side. Volume is the other half: hundreds of pieces to a single trade-show date, which has to read as one shoot even though it never was.

Why it converts

Why Outsourcing Beats Hiring In-House

The arithmetic is rarely close once volume varies at all through the year.

One salary buys a fraction of the capacity

A single in-house retoucher covers one skill set at one speed. The same budget outsourced covers every discipline, with overnight turnaround and no cover needed for leave or illness.

You only pay for what you send

Editing volume swings with seasons, campaigns and shoot dates. A per-image cost tracks that; a salary does not.

Specialists beat generalists

A retoucher who does ghost mannequin work all day is faster and better at it than a good all-rounder doing it occasionally.

Your team goes back to its actual job

Photographers should be shooting and designers designing. Post-production is the easiest part of that chain to hand over without losing control of the output.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Prices, turnaround and capacity on this page were last reviewed in August 2026.

Is the service white label?

Yes, by default. Files come back unbranded and unmarked, your client never sees us, and we do not use your images in our own portfolio or marketing without written permission. We will sign your NDA before you send anything.

How do you keep our style consistent?

Your standard is written down as a style guide for the account — contrast, colour, background, shadow, crop, naming — and every batch is worked to it. That is what keeps a delivery six months from now matching the first one.

How much can you handle at once?

Capacity runs to 8,000 images a day across 80+ retouchers. Seasonal spikes are absorbed without a hiring round, and for large projects we agree a delivery timeline upfront and meet it.

What is your turnaround time?

Standard turnaround is 24 hours for most services, and 24–48 hours for high-end, restoration and large-volume work. Rush and same-day editing is available for deadlines that cannot move.

How do we send and receive files?

Our upload portal, Dropbox, Google Drive or WeTransfer. For recurring volume we connect directly to your FTP server so hand-off and delivery happen without anyone doing it manually.

Can you follow our file naming convention?

Yes, and it is usually what makes a bulk delivery actually usable. Tell us the naming pattern and folder structure your PIM, gallery or client system expects and every delivery follows it.

Do we have to outsource everything?

No. Many clients keep an in-house team and send only overflow or one specific service. Others start with a single category and expand once the standard is established.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

No. There is no contract, no minimum quantity and no sign-up. You can send a single image, and clients who scale to thousands a week are on the same terms.

How is pricing worked out?

Per image, by complexity rather than by category. Rates start at $0.30 for a simple clipping path. For batches of ten or more, send a sample and we quote the whole job upfront so there are no surprises.

What if we are not happy with the output?

Revisions are unlimited on every order. Tell us what needs to change and we keep working until it matches your standard. If revisions still do not resolve it, a money-back guarantee applies.

Are our files kept confidential?

Yes. All client work is treated as confidential by default, stored securely, deleted on request, and never shared or published without your written permission. NDAs are signed on request.

Can we start with a test batch?

Yes, and we recommend it. Three images are edited free with no credit card and no sign-up. Send your hardest files rather than your easiest ones — that is what actually tells you whether the standard is right.
